Born in New York in 1965, Susan Torres is a self-taught artist who, only recently, made a choice to pursue her art as a career. Coming from a creative family of vocalist, musicians and visual artists, Susan attributes her core inspiration to her mother, who would draw the most beautiful portraits of women. She currently lives in South Florida and finds inspiration in its colorful lifestyle, interesting people and high energy.

Like many other creatives, Susan launched her corporate career in the graphic design industry and eventually moved into the Internet arena. She was able to partially satisfy her creative cravings with this type of work, but it would not last long. Soon she felt driven to fulfill her creative desires and thus realized her true calling. Susan courageously addressed those desires and began investigating her artistic urges with a brush and a canvas.

Without traditional art training, she felt she would never be taken seriously as an artist. Her work was merely hung in her home and she would only dream of the day she could share her gifts with the world. She dreams no more...she now pursues her passions and her life’s purpose.

At first, Susan's paintings were very traditional in style. She eventually explored abstracts and felt an immediate connection. Recently Susan has developed a curious style of capturing her characters and their personalities.

Using vivid colors and bold characters, Susan creates a unique and engaging expression of women. She is able to capture the alter egos of these women in a playful and alluring way. These characters represent the true beauty all women posses, and have a way of making her audience feel immediately connected.

With only a few months invested in living her new reality, Susan has resolved to be true to her calling and natural gifts.
